Get to Know Dr. Soumya Thomas
For Dr. Thomas, dentistry is all about helping people feel good about their smiles, and she loves that her job gives her the opportunity to educate people on the most effective ways to protect their teeth and oral health. She joined our team in 2020 and looks forward to serving the community while forming long and trusting relationships with our patients. To learn a little more about her background, read on below!
Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Thomas knew that she wanted to be a dentist starting in the third grade. She actually enjoyed going to the dentist as a child, and after getting her first filling, in her mind, her path was set. Her natural inclination for helping people made her a great fit for the healthcare field, and after shadowing several dentists, she knew that a career in dentistry would be perfect for her.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Thomas attended Texas A&M University and earned her dental degree from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, which is considered to be one of the best dental schools in the country. Following graduation, she completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency to refine her skills. Over the years, she has completed several continuing education courses and stays on top of the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques thanks to her membership in the American Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Originally from Murphy, Dr. Thomas’ biggest passions outside of dentistry are photography and traveling. She loves visiting new places and taking beautiful pictures so she can bring a little piece of them home. She also enjoys trying out new recipes—be sure to ask her about the last interesting dish she made when you come to see us!
